Hege Liseth

Hege Liseth was born in 1969 in Fredrikstad, Norway. She works with both painting, drawing and video. Her art is based on an abstract visual language, with roots in the traditions of minimalism and expressionism - characterized by an intuitive and spontaneous approach as well as meticulous adaptations and self-taught painting technical systems.

“I explore in my art ways to connect polarities to create a kind of dichotomy. The simple versus the complex, silence and chaotic bursts of energy, the volatile and the stable. The challenge is to be able to communicate in both places at the same time. A kind of potential state that can go in several possible directions.

I am concerned with complexity in relation to perception, what affects our interpretation of the world. Change, movement and change are a recurring theme in my art. Both formally, but also how we as viewers can choose to see in different ways. How we interpret the environment and how it affects us mutually.”
