Daniel Africano

Daniel Africano was born in 1983 in Porto, Portugal. He is educated at The Faculty of Fine Arts, Porto, Portugal. He also studied at the Florence Academy of Art, Florence, Italy, but did not complete the training at the art academy. Much of his painting technique is driven by self-taught self-study of The Old Masters; Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Francisco Goya. Rooted in the classical traditions, Daniel Africano integrates in his artistic work a number of references and themes from history and mythology to surrealism, symbolism, simple realistic representation of everyday life and other relevant subjects.

During his artistic career, Daniel Africano has participated in several individual and group exhibitions. He also works with private commissions within illustration and concept design. He teaches his own courses and workshops with oil painting, portraits, drawing, human body (croquis) and teaching old painting techniques. His studio is called "Atelier Daniel Africano". The studio is located in central Porto, Portugal, from where he develops his artistic career daily.
