Aske Hvidtfeldt

Aske Hvidtfeldt was born in 1985 in Aarhus, Denmark. Aske creates a play between foreground and background in his paintings. With inspiration from the world of photography, where the blurring of the background and the sharpness of what is in focus creates depth in the image (also called Bokeh), Aske paints his backgrounds slightly out of focus, so that the abstract representations of human forms stand sharply in the foreground.

Aske Hvidtfeldt exclusively creates his works using an airbrush and acrylics. He has developed a wide range of techniques to produce different textures and surfaces, and to handle all the many layers it requires, giving the paintings his colourful, energetic and recognizable style. Aske is interested in art history and history in general and uses it as a layer in the composition of his compositions, where opposites and different elements are forced together to, in the fusion, form a completely new expression. Strange and familiar.
